Who think Cung Le has a chance against Frank Shamrock?

I do. I think Frank has a better record but he is old with bad knees, ripe to be upset. Everyone is soo impressed with his win over Baroni that they forgot to see that Baroni walk out of the ring by himself, while Frank had to be helped out because he was exhausted after only 2 rounds.

Who think Cung Le has a chance against Frank Shamrock?
Everyone is underestimating Shamrock's striking skills. I have seen several fights by both, and I would rate Shamrock a better puncher than Cung Le. In his sanshou fights Le relied on his kicks and sweeps to score points and do damage; I never saw him hurt anyone with his hands. I think Shamrock will be able to handle his kicks, dish out some punishment of his own with his hands, then secure a takedown and choke him out in round 1.
Reply:Cung Le has only fought nobodys so far, i see Frank winning by RNC round 1. And Frank tore his acl in the Baroni fight but he's better now and he'll have good cardio
Reply:anyone who doubt Cung Le's ability to win this fight is completely foolish... id give him a chance against anyone.... i do hope he has trained in the ground game enough to have a good ground game defense, but he is a pure stand up fighter, and as good as it gets...
Reply:He has a chance, but if I had to bet, I'd put my money on Shamrock.

Le has good sprawls, and I've heard from a reliable source that his wrestling is stronger people give him credit for.

I'd wouldn't give Le an enormous edge in standup. His striking is better than Frank's, but striking isn't the entirety of standup fighting. The other part is takedowns and mixing striking with them. In that regard, Frank has the advantage, while Cung is moderately inexperienced.

On the other hand, San Shou is big on takedowns, so I would assume that Cung Le can do a fair job of warding them off.

I'd prefer that Le won, and I think that it's possible. Still, money on Shamrock.
Reply:I agree Frank is older and that does have an effect on your stamina,Only if he takes Le out quick will Frank be victorious.
Reply:I see Cung Le winning if it stays standing. If it goes to the ground, Shamrock will win.
Reply:Frank Shamrock isn't as great as everyone thinks. He hasn't fought anyone in top 10 in years. His last notable opponent was Tito Ortiz (when Tito was in his prime) and that was back in 1999. He only fights mid-tier fighters like Baroni. Baroni was once a great fighter, but not so much anymore. He was getting beat by Renzo Gracie, and copped out by throwing illegal knees to Renzo's head. I hope Cung Le beats the hell out of Shamrock. All Shamrock is to me is a cocky and untalented fighter. Anyone could look good fighting the guys he's been fighting.

So, again, my money is on Le. Hopefully by KO!
Reply:Cung Le is undeafeated, so I don't know if it would be an upset.

That being said, in Cung Le's last fight, against a former UFC guy (a UFC nobody), Le didnt look very good. Frank will be a much tougher test and might give Cung Le some legitimacy if he can win convincingly.

I'm rooting for Cung Le, because I prefer his style much better than than all the Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling stuff, it's much more exciting.

Reply:If Cung Le beat him I would'nt even call it an upset because Cung is a world class stand up fighter. Obviously since this is MMA I still give the edge to Shamrock but Frank is not unbeatable. Baroni got p'wned in Hawaii a couple weeks ago so beating that guy is not as impressive as it once was.
Reply:I really really dont know what is going to happen. A lot of people think Cung has no grappling technique, but the fact is his very good to sprawling, very good at defending takedowns and has got some great reflexes. If the fight goes to the floor I would have to give it to Shamrock, but standing maybe Cung would have the advantage. Then again Frank has got some great tand up also. Its tough to decide.

Reply:frank will put him on his back within the first 15 seconds thus nullifying those many years of san shou training cung has on his side. i see this being a one sided beat down that doesn't make it out of the first
Reply:Cung Le has a good chance. With that said, I will go with Frank "Juarez" Shamrock by submission in the first because of his big fight experience is why I give him the edge.
Reply:as long as it stays standing Le has a chance, his ground game is nonexistant so far.

Shamrock is more experienced with a strong ground game.

i think shamrock will take this one.
Reply:I agree with Brian B. It's easy to throw single kicks over and over on a guy like Tony Fryklund when he just stands there and doesn't fight back. Look for Frank to throw a quick flurry with his hands and put Le on his back within the first minute. From there it's just textbook.
Reply:I have nothing but respect for Chung, he is a gifted martial artist, and I stress the word "Artist". If it was simply a stand up striking match, I seriously doubt Shamrock would last. It is the ground game that I think will give Chung serious trouble. I don't know how well Chung fights as a wrestler and once they leave their feet Frank Shamrock will have the edge. Chung is an artist, and Shamrock a fighter. Chung will stop short of crippling an opponent and show a certain measure of honor, Frank Shamrock has no such distraction and will not hesitate crippling an opponent. This innate viciousness works in Shamrocks favor.

Chung will dominate the striking aspect of this match, but the real questions about Chung and MMA will be answered when Shamrock takes Chung down and they grapple.
