Do you think Frank Shamrock learned a lesson in this last fight?

Instead of fighting his own fight and trying to win as soon as possible he insists on trying to humiliate fighters by beating them at their own game. To his credit he bullied Phil Baroni with his fists. But fighting Le at stand up cost him his title and probably a half a year of recovery time. Was it worth it?

Do you think Frank Shamrock learned a lesson in this last fight?
An excellent question. If there is a rematch down the road (and I hope there is), then we may find out. Sometimes that which makes a fighter a good fighter also at times makes them weaker and things do happen like last night to even good fighters. Remember what happened to Ali when he fought what many thought was only a fair fighter by the name of Kenny Norton the first time. Everyone thought Ali would devastate him and on paper it stacked up that way but when Norton broke Ali's jaw early in the fight it changed the course of the fight and Norton won. My guess is that Shamrock will be more careful but Lees ability, skill, and experience are also going to grow in the meantime.
Reply:I doubt Frank learned anything from the fight. And who knows what the fight would have been like had Frank gotten Cung to the mat? After all, reports point out that Le is a pretty good wrestler in his own right. Obviously he's better at stand-up though.

All-in-all, a pretty good match.
Reply:I would think he had to learn a lesson there. He was getting hit/kicked pretty good. I agree though, he is a smart enough fighter to know that he wouldn't beat Cung Le at a standup game, and should have tried to get it to the ground. I like Frank, but found myself rooting for Cung after Frank started his little antics.
Reply:What is "his own" fight suppose to mean? You people act like you can just take someone down and that's that, but it ain't that easy. You still got to do something once you get there and if you fail you waste a lot of energy and are vulnerable to counters. I saw Frank try to take him down but he could'nt and thats why that happened. I actually gained more respect for Frank because he just did'nt want to lay and pray and he wanted to test Cung's chin. Frank's a warrior and just was'nt looking to put a W on his record, he was looking to to knock him out. Look at Anderson and Liddell, some guys you are hard to take down and keep down. You got to remember that Cung is a championship caliber junior college wrestler also.
Reply:Probably not, he'll want a rematch I bet. That's how MMA fighters are.

I stand corrected, after watching the fight in it's entirety, I think it was good fight. I think if Shamrock knocks off all the bull shite like smiling and hand gesturing like he's going to put people to sleep I think he may even be able to beat him. He just has take him down. I know it's easier said than done but it wasn't a blowout. Noe Cung Le is one hell of a fighter, I have never seen a MMA fighter with such quick fluid kicks like that

But we have to admit, they match up well..
Reply:he proabably won't learn from it. he should have taken it to the ground. they were sparring partners before, and le would own shamrock back then. why would he try and out strike a striker?? beats me. probably big ego mentioned earlier.
Reply:He'll never learn! The only thing bigger than his mouth is his ego! lmao
Reply:I don't think Frank needs to "learn" or change anything. Le definitely beat Shamrock, but Frank did not get completely dominated and did have an opportunity to win the fight with a strong 3rd round. Its how MMA works, on another night Shamrock would have finished Le. Good fight, good win. But a rematch could easily go either way, just like this fight could have gone either way.
Reply:Of course he didn't. I don't understand why he would try to stand with Cung AND let him land those single kicks over and over. The only thing I hope he learned is that he's NOT the best middleweight in the world. I hope for his sake that he stops calling out Anderson. He thinks Cung hurt him? Anderson would have put him to sleep in the second.
