How to make vanilla buttercream frosting for a shamrock cake?

I buy it ready made but you can cream butter, vanilla and powdered sugar together, whip some air into the mixture and spread on cake.

Reply:INGREDIENTS

1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened

8 cups confectioners' sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 cup milk

DIRECTIONS

In a mixing bowl, cream butter. Beat in sugar and vanilla. Add milk until frosting reaches desired consistency.

If you want the icing for be green (for the shamrock) just add a few drops of green food coloring while you are mixing. You can just keep adding a couple more drops if you want it a darker green. Also, if the cake is small it might be a good idea to just half the recipe, seen as it makes quite a bit. Good luck!
