What did you think about the DQ of Frank Shamrock?

He was throwing those knees to the body all night long and due to the position of the cage he could have easily been going for the shoulder and how would he have known with his knee was hitting the back of his neck with his head all the way almost to under Renzo's stomach. He couldn't clearly tell where the shot was landing let alone that it was hitting the 3 inch in diameter that it did hit. Also Herb should have jumped in after the first knee to the head as he could clearly see that it did in fact land in spine area. and what happened to the Renzo Gracie I saw get his arm brutally broken by Sakuraba and request to continue, he ate his own words "only ******* ever quit".

What did you think about the DQ of Frank Shamrock?
Only Renzo knows how badly he was hurt, it looked like it hurt though, but he could have continued because I've seen worse and people kept going. Shamrock was there to fight, Gracie was there to win a decision and wrestle. The only thing I don't like is that Gracie could have knee'd Frank when he was on top, but did'nt ,the rules are stupid if you can't knee then why is it no holds barred, to many damn rules.
Reply:I did not see the fight, but from what I read about it, the ref seems to have dropped the ball. It sounds like Shamrock should have been warned about the knee strikes before the controversial rabbit knee even came about. Had that happened, Renzo's calling it would have resulted in a loss for him, and he would have rethought giving up. Too bad for the event as a whole, sounds anticlimactic. Also, Shamrock has had these kind of issues in the past, you'd think he would've learned his lesson by now.
Reply:REMATCH!!!!! It looked like Gracie played it up for the camera a little to me. The ref should have said something, there was time between the knee strikes. The ref said something about Frank being warned earlier about strikes to the (I think) the neck. Controversial either way you look at it.
Reply:Well at first I was wondering how they would know if it was intentional or not, but what Frank was saying after the match made me think that it was intentional. He kept saying stuff about, i'm old school and that's not the way it was etc. Wish I could find a transcript of what all he said. Made me feel like he didn't care about the rules and didn't bother to learn what was and was not illegal. Had it not been for that, I might have thought it was an accident. You don't see many other fighters getting disqualified though so I'm thinking it is possible to know what the rules are and abide by them. Also, I do think that the ref should have called it sooner, but I guess sometimes the ref isn't always as fast as they need to be.
