If i am Irish and Scottish would it be wrong to get a plaid shamrock tattoo?

It's me own opinion lass but ye could get a tattoo of a shamrock and a thistle placed side by side. Shamrock for Irish and the Thistle for Scottish.

Both are Celtic culture and both speak Gaelic.

Erin go bragh! Alba gu brath!

If i am Irish and Scottish would it be wrong to get a plaid shamrock tattoo?
No. It is good that you are proud of your heritage. You can do whatever you want with your body... however, it would be a lot cooler if you knew what your family tartan was and had the plaid part of the tatoo match your family tartan... now that is pride in your heritage.
Reply:NO AS A TATTOO IS A LIFE LONG COMMITMENT. IT MATTERS WHAT YOU THINK,NOT OTHERS. ALSO ITS YOUR HERITAGE YOU MAY EXPRESS IT ANY WAY YOU CHOOSE.

BY THE WAY THAT'S A UNIQUE AND CREATIVE IDEA YOU HAVE, GO FOR IT! THE ONLY JUDGMENT YOU WILL GET FROM ME IS THAT YOU HAVE GOOD TASTE.
Reply:If you mean "Scots Irish" you should get an orange one, but don't go to the Republic of Ireland with it showing.
Reply:I don't think so I don't know about you but i am 50% scotch/irish which is different then being part scotch and part irish. Scotch/Irish was the result of some king of England I don't remeber which one forcing people from scotland to move to ireland and people from ireland to move to scotland. He did this to caus division among the people. I am proud to be part scotch/irish
Reply:Only if you are against tattoos! As you probably know Gaelic Scottish families are branches of Gaelic families from the north of Ireland who settled northern Great Britain and turned it into Scotland.

If you know which Scottish clan you wish to represent you could investigate their tartan and use that as the plaid on your shamrock.

Another idea: instead of a plaid shamrock get a tattoo of shamrock and a thistle (national flower symbol of Scotland) and have the stems intertwined.

Best of luck! Would love to see a pic of the tat, lol.

Reply:Aye lass the bigger the shamrock the better and with the plaid too, och it will be a bonny site to see. Maybe even have your family name put on above or below it.
Reply:I'm part Irish and Scottish too, and personally I see nothing wrong with blending symbols of the two cultures. Also, it's your body and your tatoo so you should get what you want anyway.
Reply:No, I think it would be something cool and very unique too. ;)
Reply:i think it would be unique and interesting.
Reply:No. Not if you want to live with some fairly tasteless reminder of your youth forever. I got a butterfly on my butt when I was a hippie, now all I worry about is the hoot the embalmer will get when he flops my old a$$ up.
Reply:No, that is exactly the type of thing that you want to put on your body permanently.

I'm kidding, you get that right?
