Where has Frank Shamrock been?

In competing terms. I saw his Phil Baroni a$$ kicking recently and he looked like the best fighter on the planet. Why hasn't he fought in UFC or Pride in so many years.

Where has Frank Shamrock been?
Did you not LOOK at baronis record. It's pathetic.

And who cares what happened to him?
Reply:To the surprise of the entire MMA world, however, Shamrock suddenly left the fighting world just when he had climbed to its peak. Claiming he had accomplished all his goals in the sport and wanted to try other endeavors, Shamrock relinquished the belt he had never lost in the ring, telling the UFC to call him when they had someone who could beat him.

Shamrock has only recently emerged from his self-imposed exile, knocking out Cesar Gracie in under a minute during a 2006 event in California. His Razorclaws featured a shifting lineup in their first season, but are beginning to find a solid base under Shamrock’s guidance.

He is currently coaching the San Jose Razor Claws of the International Fight League.
Reply:he's washed up like a sperm whale...the man looks better than he feels
Reply:Actually, most of those answers are not true. He fought in Pancrase (In Japan) BEFORE his days in the UFC. His only loss in 10 years has been the DQ angainst Renzo (which he was winning on the scorecards)

He did have a falling out over pay etc. with the UFC in 1999 and never returned. He went out on top before he could lose also imo. Who knows why he's coming back now...most likely he needs money. He could've been great had he stayed in the game, but he's a shell of his former self. Cardio is terrible etc.

Was enough to kick Baronis *** tho.
Reply:He left the UFC because at the time he did not feel that MMA fighters were properly compensated. He went to Japan Pancrase and got his butt kicked a few times, he even got knocked out the ring with a kick. Now he is back because Strikeforce is paying him around 200k a fight, but he will probably never fight in the UFC again.
Reply:frank shamrock retired from mma, i think several years ago. after becoming ufc champion, left ufc, went overseas to fight, like the previous responder stated. now that mma is becoming more popular and profitable he is back with EliteXC/strikeforce. its rumored that dana white and he did not get along, and since pride has been bought out by ufc its not likely he will be in the ufc.

he was impressive against phil baroni, it was a big improvement from his previous fight with renzo gracie where he lost by disqualification due to illegal knees to the back of the head.

he still seems to be strong and skilled enough to continue fighting but is inconsistent

too bad he has a very unsportman like conduct, see what he did after choking baroni out
