Is it legal to draw something on your license plates?

I want to either draw on a little shamrock or put on a tiny bumper sticker I have. But would I get in trouble for it?

Is it legal to draw something on your license plates?
It is illegal to deface or add anything to a license plate other than the registration sticker. It is also illegal in most states to have a license plate frame and /or clear plastic cover over the plate. While you may see people doing it (as I have) if they get pulled over and the policeman wants to ticket them, he can do so for any of the above infractions.
Reply:Technically anything obscuring your license plate is illegal. But as long as its not covering the numbers or anything I can't imagine they would mess with you about it.
Reply:It's not worth it. I'm sure the police can pull you over for putting anything on your license plates.

Put your shamrock elsewhere.
Reply:just put it on your bumper, thats why its called a bumper sticker......anyways, as for your question, i think, as long as you dont cover up the expiration sticker, or the number and letters, then it should be fine.
Reply:probably not. as long as you don't cover anything important that needs to be seen.
