I have had a small shamrock plant in my kitchen windowsill for a little over a year. Shortly after I got it there was a white fluffy mold growing on the surface of the dirt. The shamrock is doing fine, I keep it moist and in the sun. I am not worried about the plant; I am worried that the mold might be dangerous for me and my family. Can anyone tell me if it is safe or a way to get rid of the mold? Thanks in advance.
Is my shamrock plant safe?
its just the minerals from the water evaporating, called effervescence
Reply:This is from keeping the soil moist all the time. The mould is very harmless (I get it at the base of my ferns all the time) but if you're concerned just let the soil dry out and the mould will die (a shamrock can survive dry spells, and this may even force it to bloom).
Reply:well if you're worried then get some gloves and dig it up and through it outside or dispose of it other wise
